In Loving Memory

Macie

Macie Bubbles

    Macie

Our beautiful Macie, the second addition to the pack and our third oldest dog. She was Jay Jay's partner in crime and love affair since the day we brought her home. They were completely opposite in every way with one exception, stubbornness (hers revolved around food). Macie was one of the friendliest dogs you could ever meet, and was always incredibly happy and go lucky. A couple years ago she started having eye issues, caused by a rare genetic disorder. After treating them for some time it took a turn for the worst, the pressure in her eye spiked and was causing her a lot of pain and problems. Consequently she had to have surgery to remove the eye, she had no vision in her other eye due to the progressive disorder so she was 100% blind in her last few years. She was an amazing girl though and she never let it slow her down, she still loved to play,  do tricks, but nothing compared to her love for food. Her other favorite things she loved to do was going on drives, getting belly rubs and eating her favorite foods bananas, apples, and carrots (she was always under my feet when I was in the kitchen). We will always remember that beautiful smile, missing you every single day sweet girl.

    • Macie was also known as "Lou Dog", "Macie Lou", and "Mae Mae".
    • She was so high spirited and one of the happiest dogs you could ever meet.
    • She knew several tricks such as, play dead, roll over, shake (and other paw), dance, howl, and high five. She was incredibly smart and I can still remember teaching her play dead and how fast she picked up each portion of the trick, I miss her so much.
    • Even when her hair was cut short she was always a warm dog. She is not one to cuddle up next to anyone for too long but she always likes to be close.

    • DOB 11/27/2003 - Rainbow Bridge 10/23/2019
    • Breed - Cairn Terrier (silver brindle)
    • Weight - 23 lbs
    • Diagnosed with rare genetic eye issue and Cancer
    • 100% blind and only had one eye
    • We fought cancer for almost a year in our sweet Macie, towards the end the cancer came back very aggressively and went from slow growth to incredibly fast growth, swelling, and spreading. What started in her leg spread into the lymph nodes and was making its way up through her stomach area. Cancer is heartbreaking to go through and early detection and care gives them their best chance.  Unfortunately we were not lucky enough to catch it in time to beat it despite constant vet visits for senior care, and regular lump and bump checks and removals.
